On the way at Wanganui playground
I love this photo of Abbie ... captures her to a tee ..
Before dinner we took the kids down to the school to the playground ...
At Foxton beach school playground
Before bed ... playing yahtzee ..
The next day it was quite overcast and windy and cold ... so we "peeked" at the beach on the way to Waikanae ..
We visited Michael and Maria and Jessica for the day
.. and looked in on the "holiday" home he is building for some clients .. on the way to the beach
... holy smoke - a 1.3 million - 2 bedroom "bach" that had stone walls and a moat around it
... with brilliant views of the sea .. (and right on the beach line)
Apparently has taken 14 months so far ..
.. and 6 months of that was pouring and getting the stone walls in place ..
.. was really modern .. but had 70's flowery wall paper mixed in amongst it also
On the way home we called in to Levin to the Hot Air Balloon festival ..
At the Hot Air Balloon Festival "Nite Glow " at Levin
Some of the hot air balloons coming in to land ..
Some of the balloons going up ..
They lit up the balloons later on and played the lights to music .. really cool .. have a video of it ..
It was the first time I'd seen a hot air balloon up close
.. and apparently is quite a rare treat to be so close as overseas it is classed as a safety issue ...
The next day we caught up with the Anderson's .. and the kids had a great time playing with the boys ..
The next day they came to the bach and then we went fishing at the river mouth .. although it was quite cold and it turned over cast so we cut it short mid afternoon
.. but the kids had a great time digging trenches and building castles and playing around ..
A day at the beach/fishing with the Anderson family ..
Late afternoon we prepared the fence for painting ..
The next morning we headed to Palmerston and were going to catch up with Pam and family but they weren't home (but we later found they were in town too)
.. so we went to the Plaza to have a look around and then went to the Esplanade to give the kids a run around ..
We spotted that the miniature train ride had just started running and so we all went for a ride ..
.. the boys absolutely loved it and said it was the best part of the holiday ...
Just before the train set off at the Victoria Esplanade - Palmerston North
During the ride around the park ..
Me and the kids at the Esplanade (proof I did go along - heh heh)
At the Children's playground
Then when we got home we started on the "artistic creations"
Michael painting his creation ..
Cam painting his truck
The finished paintings ..
(although the paint ran on Cam's the next morning
so we touched them up and put white around the flower - to accent it)
A quiet afternoon at the bach ...
Then the next morning we headed back home ..
.. with another stop at Wanganui playground for lunch and to break the trip ..
We walked around the lake .. and then headed off for home ..
.. with an obligatory ice-cream just before we got home ..
